12 thoughtful gift ideas for the jeweller in your life (that aren’t tools!)

If you’re searching for a gift for someone who is making jewellery, and you want to buy them something to show you are supporting their endeavours but you don’t want to buy them just another tool. Then this is for you!

I have put together a list of items that I have in my own studio, that are not tools or jewellery making equipment as such, but they are items that I can’t live without when I am making or designing, so I think they are ideal gift ideas for anyone regardless of where they might be on their Jewellery making journey. Oh, and there’s a gift card for a bundle of courses too, just in case they need a little help and inspiration.

An Apron

I have worn this very apron every day in my workshop for the last two years. It is the perfect mix of durable but not heavy, plus it has pockets and comes in a range of different colours!

A Custom Jewellery Stamp

Have their logo or a design that means something to them made into a custom jewellery stamp that they can use on their future jewellery creations. There are many reputable companies that make custom stamps but I have used Stamp Workshop Co many times and can personally vouch for their quality and great customer service!

A Jewellery Course Gift Card

Of course we have to shamelessly include our own online course gift card. Gift cards can be redeemed against any online course so they can choose the perfect one to suit their style and develop their jewellery making skills

Art Clay Silver

Where metal sheet and wire are essential, Silver Clay is Fun. Gift a packet of Silver Clay (and an Online Course gift card!) and see what beautiful things they create

Really Good Hand Cream

Jewellery making is hard on the hands and can cause dry, cracked skin. A really good hand cream to keep at the bench is an absolute must and this one is my go-to.

Minerals Art Print

Where beauty meets practicality. Help someone elevate their studio aesthetic with this beautifully hand-drawn A-Z of Minerals Print.

Telescopic Magnet with Torch

An entirely unromantic, but really useful item. Used for fishing saw blades out of bench skins, picking up dropped shot from the barrel, and as an added bonus the little torch helps locate all of the dropped gemstones!

Ultimate Ears Bluetooth Speaker

Whether it’s audiobooks, podcasts, jazz or heavy metal, whatever they listen to the Ultimate Ears Boom will deliver. After 6 hard years in my studio, this seemingly indestructible speaker has well and truly got my seal of approval.

A Moleskine Notebook

Nothing sparks new design ideas like a crisp new sketchbook. I return time and time again to Moleskine sketchbooks as their quality and timeless design make them perfect for sketching, scribbling, and planning.

Sketching Pencils

Every creative is going to appreciate new stationary (to go alongside the sketchbook, of course!).

Extra Storage Drawers

There is never enough storage for all those half-finished projects, gemstone hoards, offcuts and prototypes so any kind of extra storage to help organise all those little bits will be very welcome!

An Insulated Coffee/Drinks Cup

To keep bench dust out of drinks, and for keeping them hot or cold while hyper-focussing on creative endeavours, I wouldn’t be without my Chilly’s bottle. This is another one of those indispensable items that can survive even the harshest studio environment!

Is there a gift you think belongs on this list? Let us know and we’ll check it out!
